Workplace Services > About MEAS > WHO IS MEAS

The employee assistance/managed behavioral care division of Memorial Employee Assistance Services, Inc. and the Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois (MHCCI) have combined their talents, expertise and resources to create Memorial Employee Assistance Services (MEAS). MEAS brings high quality, value-added employee assistance programs (EAP) and related workplace assistance services to Springfield, Central Illinois, and outside locations. Independently, both Chestnut and MHCCI are firmly established leaders in providing mental health, chemical dependency, and employee assistance services. Together, these two highly respected and reputable behavioral healthcare organizations have formed MEAS to be a trusted and dependable partner in providing employee and workplace assistance solutions which will improve the performance and productivity of individual employees and organizations as a whole.

The MEAS Philosophy and Approach
MEAS' Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides early identification and professional intervention for a broad range of problems experienced by employees and their dependents. Many of these problems are not necessarily the result of a diagnosed mental disorder or chemical dependence, but "problems in living" that often result in substantial disruption in employees' lives and ability to function effectively at work. Additionally, some of these problems are excluded from coverage and, if left untreated, can worsen and result in higher medical, disability, or workers' compensation costs later.

At MEAS, we believe that a quality EAP encompasses not only a full range of services for prompt assistance with employee/dependent concerns, but also comprehensive services for managers and supervisors. The following features distinguish our approach to the design and delivery of EAP services:

  • The key to a cost-effective EAP is an assertive program awareness campaign that leads to early intervention.
  • Employees and their families need to have friendly and easy access to EAP counseling services regardless of where they live, work, travel, or go to school.
  • Our EAP clinical and training staff and affiliates are all experienced master's and doctorate level professionals who are trained in crisis intervention, short-term counseling, workplace issues and management consultation.
  • At MEAS, our EAPs have a strong workplace orientation, which is why we insist on conducting regular supervisory referral training with all our client companies.
  • At MEAS, all requests for information or service begin with the convenience of a single toll-free number directly answered by a trained intake specialist who is prepared to arrange for assistance or answer your questions.
  • MEAS is founded on the principle of excellence in service so we are flexible and responsive to our client companies' priorities and needs.
